our story

Poets Palace CIC began as a pub open mic in Crystal Palace — a small, vibrant gathering where poets and locals shared their words in a space built on spontaneity, community, and creativity. What started as a grassroots poetry night quickly grew into something much larger.

As audiences grew and the artistic community around us flourished, so did our ambition. We began weaving music into our events, running workshops, and recording studio tracks with open-mic performers, blurring the lines between spoken word and music culture. At the heart of our open mics is a commitment to platforming talent: audiences vote for their favourite performer, with each winner earning a paid headline slot at a future event — creating a pathway from emerging artist to featured performer.

Today, Poets Palace has grown into a national arts organisation operating in two languages, committed to championing emerging voices and creating meaningful cultural experiences across the UK and beyond.

mission

Poets Palace is a community events platform and national poetry network connecting poets, audiences and creative communities through live events, workshops and collaborations. Across cities including London, Brighton, Birmingham, Manchester and Norwich, we create opportunities for emerging artists and bring poetry to new audiences. Through our Spanish-language platform, Palacio de Poetas, we also foster cross-cultural connections, with our work spanning grassroots open mics, festivals and partnerships with leading cultural institutions.

Our mission is to make poetry accessible, champion diverse voices and strengthen creative communities through inclusive programming, artist development and collaboration.

Vision

Our vision is to grow Poets Palace into a leading national poetry network, connecting local creative communities and creating lasting opportunities for poets to develop, collaborate and share their work. We aim to expand our reach across the UK, build stronger connections between cities and cultures, and explore new ways to bring spoken word to wider audiences through digital media, publications and recorded work.
